Dealing with Blisters, Avoiding Ankle Pain and Other Lessons From My Second 5k Race | The Art of Ass-Kicking

Dealing with Blisters, Avoiding Ankle Pain and Other Lessons From My Second 5k Race | The Art of Ass-Kicking: "I finished my second 5k race a few weeks ago at Steven’s Creek Trail. I ran with my roommate Michael (who’s doing his own startup OYO Glasses) and completed it in 25:58, finishing 72nd out of 232 people (7th out of the 16 guys in my age group). It was slower than my first 5k by about 90 seconds which is kind of a bummer, but my training was also a bit off (you’ll see why in a minute). Also, this time I had shorts on. "

I Want to… Run a 5K! | Health and Fitness Articles, News, and Tips – Greatist.com: "Head to any park with a runners’ lane and it might seem like some people are just born to run. In their sweat-wicking singlets, these athletic specimens are swift, speedy, and (shockingly) smiling. But not everyone is built for the open road (or treadmill), and the hopes of running that next big marathon might be a wee bit lofty— especially considering the dust collecting on those running shoes."

Motivation Monday: My Half Marathon Race Recap | Fitness Cheerleader

Motivation Monday: My Half Marathon Race Recap | Fitness Cheerleader: "Last week was a great week for me – taper week, ending with the half marathon race on Sunday (yesterday) that I’ve been training for since early August. My taper included only two runs: one on Tuesday – a 6k with Amber in the jogging stroller, and another on Thursday – a 5k pushing Amber, then I rested until my race on Sunday."

ultraRUNNING Online - Demystifying the BONK

ultraRUNNING Online - Demystifying the BONK: "Bonking, hitting-the-wall, crash and burn, total muscle fatigue, whatever the name – as an ultrarunner, this is your worst nightmare. When you are beginning to lose it, the cause of your meltdown matters less than the vision of your training, goals and dreams drifting out the window. But there are different kinds of bonking and a variety of causes. Besides the obvious lack of adequate physical training, which we will not discuss here, most causes begin with a nutritional imbalance."

USTrailrunner::Trail Running Trail Reviews, Race Info, Trail Running gear and Trail Running Community: "Today was the first day for a run in the Merrill Trail Glove. After several days off and on of wearing the shoe for a whole day I was ready to try them out for their real purpose, running. I went for a short run on paved streets. I made sure to have no distance goal but rather be really in tune to how they, and my body felt. Any concern I had about how my feet would feel on pavement quickly evaporated as I took off down the block. There was no need to be hyper-vigalent about where I placed my feet. The outsole of the Merrill Trail Glove definitely kept me protected. The first thing I noticed was that I felt like I 'could' run a lot faster and longer. This was due to the light weight of the shoe."
