And they're as common as they are pointless. “When people train for endurance events, the biggest mistake they make is logging too many junk miles,” says Rachel Cosgrove, C.S.C.S., owner of Results Fitness in Santa Clarita, California. Every workout should lead you to hitting the goal pace you want to run, Cosgrove says. “Don’t just run miles to run miles."
