The Runner's Pizza From Runner's World

The Runner's Pizza From Runner's World: "Runners love pizza so much that most eat about one medium pie every month. Trouble is, many are high-fat disasters with few nutritionally redeeming qualities. One solution? Make your own at home and load it with good-for-you ingredients. Choose your crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings, then assemble the pizza on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 450° F for 10 to 15 minutes."

March 14: The "Afterburn" Exists, and It Can Be Very Significant | Peak Performance: "Over the last 30+ years, I've read countless scientific papers and abstracts on subjects of interest to me: running, fitness, health and related topics. No area has proven more perplexing, confusing and just-plain unsubstantiated than EPOC–excess post oxygen consumption, popularly known as 'after burn.' EPOC refers to the calories you burn after exercise as your body transitions from a revved-up state to its normal functioning."

Merrell Trail Glove vs. New Balance Minimus
Two minimalist trail shoes simulating a barefoot running style are being released this winter to major hoopla (the Merrell Trail Glove in February and the New Balance Minimus Trail in March) and I was privileged enough to receive a pair of both. Rather than review these shoes separately, I thought it would benefit discriminating readers and potential purchasers to compare and contrast the shoes as well as their relative performance on the trail."

Introduction page

Introduction page: "There are many schools of thought on how to train for a marathon. In my 35 years of experience I have found certain programs that, while they may be helpful to get the runners to the cross the marathon finish line, they make the training so time consuming and arduous that few people want to go through the experience again. That isn't to say that there isn't hard work involved."

I Run Ultras.com: "The North County Trailway (and South County Trailway) are part of a rail-to-trails project that is supposed to eventually connect Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to the Putnam County Trailway. Its name is a little deceiving as the 'trail' is actually a car-free bike path. The North County trailway is about 22.1 miles, running from the Putnam County border down to the Eastview section of southern Greenburgh where it meets the South County Trailway. The South County Trailway then extends 14.1 miles to Van Cortlandt Park."

The bottom line is that something has to change. But what is it that changes when we go faster?"

Running a Marathon Without Training?
A few years ago I ran the San Francisco marathon without training and finished it in 4 hours and 28 minutes. Most people don’t believe me when I tell them I did this, then when they do they then start thinking I’m an idiot. I did do it, and maybe. The part of the story that I don’t normally share is that my friend Tyson also ran the marathon that day and finished in around 5 and 1/2 hours. To me his run, though an hour longer, is probably more impressive of a feat.
